Grease 2 - What have I been watching???

I watched a re-run of Grease 2... after more than 10 years.

Grease and Grease 2 were like my all time favourite shows when I was young.
I didn't bother to watch Grease on cable TV but well I happen to switch to Grease 2 this morning.
Lo and behold, I was glued to the TV screen and suddenly I realized that it was like a bunch of nonsense. And some off pitch singing. If the actors went to audition for American Idol, they would be like the butt of Simon Cowell's jokes and of course the other judges as well.

One of them was like practically just shouting her lungs out and she was like one of the lead characters. ??!! Then again maybe not. She was just like another prop in the cast.

But it was still a good walk down memory lane. I'll look for some of the video clips in you tube...

James Blunt Lost Souls Tour 2008 in Singapore

I caught James Blunt in concert and while I was expecting a man on stage strumming his guitar, I get more cos he communicated with his audience as well. He talked and joked and flirted with his audience and that added to the entertainment value. Amazing.
He even went off-stage and made a run in the crowd. This guy is out of his mind. Well, I happened to sit right by the aisle so I get to grab him up-close. No dirty grabs, just reached out my arm to him. That's not as bad as jumping at him like I planned to :P
Well it was a fun concert with good singing and performance. If only it's the same as the US league of the tour where he will perform with Sheryl Crow!!! That would be a real treat for the crowd.
Am I writing a concert review? haha... I am not a good reviewer of concerts. The last one I went to was No Doubt's some years back, like 10 years ago? That was a long time ago, wasn't it? Will it be another 10 years before my next one. Only time will tell. But if James Blunt comes back, it may not be that long...

And here is one quality Indonesian movie. Flawed but still good.

A message to all about Islam. To Muslims and Non-Muslims. A message to the sinners and the righteous or so they think.

Marry - Out of love? or out of faith?
Polygamy, a right or a responsibility?
Where is the place of the wife? What is the meaning of sacrifice?
Sacrifice. For Love? For Faith?
Is it really love? Maybe lust.

Sinners and saints. Are sinners? Are Saints?
Can Saints do wrong?
Has God turned away from the sinners?
Are we to judge?

The lack of tolerance, In Islam or Muslims?
Have we been unfair to our faith?

I am so frustrated. I am working like a crazy cow. What the hell???!!!
These new SHs are just too young and inexperienced to be leaders. Their management skills suck. No names shall be mentioned.
One thinks just because she is an acting subject head she can just push her load to people so freely. False sense of superiority.
Another wants to have so much on his plate. He must be working on his portfolio or something. But he's just assigning work to his subordinates and I wonder if he's even doing anything. Most of his time must be spent on just planning and coming up with new things.
Another one tries to behave like some kind of Diva but luckily she's helpful.
Another one... well whatever is he doing. He's always just walking and talking with another subject head or Head of Department. hmm... Sucking up, maybe...
Me, I'm not a subject head. I am just at the receiving end. Gosh. If only I dont care much about working relationships, I would just tell these clowns off!
Well... Tomorrow's labour day. Another laborious holiday...

Everyday I work, I do a different task. But what am I doing?

What should be the priority of a teacher - his student or his school?
I want mine to be my student but what am I doing?

Time. Not an excuse for not doing.
So what is? A human being is blessed with one brain, two hands, two legs. There is a limit to his capacity. Money cannot buy an extra hand. But money can break the hand, the brain. Well the leg is still safe to keep. But for how long?

The promise for more money. But it comes with a price. Nothing is for free.
Well, they definitely are oblivious to the real problem. Why nourish the leaves when the roots are sick?
Talents will keep coming. But the tap will just keep running. The water will keep flowing... out of the pail. If you are just filling it up without patching the hole underneath. To whoever you are... RETHINK!

Bioethics, business ethics. Where is MANAGEMENT ETHICS? Every employee is entitled to a life after work. Don't just say. DO! Work life balance. Practice what you preach. Support, not just by making us play at work. What manner of play is it when your mind is entrenched at your work station? Bosses... THINK! Don't just make us do. Have some consideration. Your work is your life, not mine. So why are you depriving me of my life?

OK. I hear the song 4 minutes in the back ground. At least someone still has some consideration for the world...

The last time i put my thoughts online i couldnt post anymore for a while.
so i shall silent myself now.

Our ministers are getting more pay. It's an invitation to the best talents to form the best team.

So it's making news. Singapore ministers are getting more pay comparable to some of the highest earners in the private sector in Singapore. What's the rationale? To lure in better talents.
Do they deserve it? Someone said ministers in some other countries doing as well as or even better than Singapore in some areas are not even getting that much money. But MM Lee said to achieve such great achievements in a short time is remarkable and can only be done with the best talents. And some ministers supported the fact that we have to be realistic that many are still attracted to a job due to the monetary returns.
And with reference to best talents, another reader of the local paper wrote in saying that among the top earners, none of them are medical doctors but the medical faculty never runs short of applicants. In fact, the number of applicants into the medical faculty every year far exceeds the number accepted for the interviews. So it cannot be true that all Singaporeans are after the money when it comes to choosing their profession. So what is missing in Singapore politics that are not attracting the talents?
Let's side-track... A local filmmaker's film was banned and this filmmaker may even be charged. His mistake? His movie featured one of Singapore's political detainees. One opposition who tried to organise a forum to discuss the minister's pay rise had his license application rejected... and so the critics are silenced.
Once again, what is missing in Singapore politics that are not attracting the best talents? I'm so not into issues on politics. I don't really care if my voice is not heard but I can't say the same for the 'best talents'.
